- Because QtiPlot is an open source project and the open source community really needs a profesional scientific plotting application,
comparable with the commercial ones. Most of the features available in Origin and in other commercial plotting software are
already implemented in QtiPlot.
- QtiPlot is included in all main Linux distributions: Debian, Ubuntu, etc... and a lot of people use it on a daily basis in their work.
If you're a regular QtiPlot user, please remember that developing good software requires a huge amount of work.
- By supporting QtiPlot you can considerably speed-up its development and your feature requests will be implemented on a reasonable time scale.
- Because I believe in the "The Virtuous Cycle" introduced by the developers of Qt in order to explain their
Open Source Business Model.
- Because people don't usually donate money for QtiPlot (when I receive 20 euros of donations in a month I consider myself a lucky man).
Therefore, charging for the binaries was the only method I have found to get my work rewarded.
Despite all that some people might say, QtiPlot is a free sofware and binaries for Linux users are provided free of charge.
Windows or Mac OS X users complaining about this distribution policy are strongly advised to switch to Linux,
a completely free operating system and, preferably, to use Ubuntu.
If you want to see QtiPlot evolving faster you can help us hire freelance developers by making a donation:
You also have the possibility to set-up a monthly donation. Please choose the monthly amount you want to donate:
Many thanks to all people having made a donation with the purpose to support this project!
